Bills Amending State Retirement Laws Gain House Approval

The N.C. House of Representatives has approved two bills making technical and clarifying changes to the state’s pension and retirement laws as requested by the State Treasurer’s Office. Both first cleared the House Pensions and Retirement Committee, followed by the chamber’s Rules Committee, before finally receiving approval on the floor of the House, all on Wednesday. The bills, which have been sent to the Senate for that chamber’s consideration, include the following:

NCASA members, especially school system human resource directors and finance directors who deal most directly with employee retirement issues, are encouraged to review these bills and their summaries and make NCASA aware of any questions or concerns.
