On Wednesday, Sept. 17th, the North Carolina Association of School Administrators (NCASA) Board of Directors unanimously voted to endorse the new strategic plan adopted recently by the State Board of Education (SBE) as a joint endeavor between the SBE and the Department of Public Instruction. The plan championed by State Superintendent Maurice “Mo” Green has eight pillars of focus, with all aimed at Achieving Educational Excellence for K-12 students.
NCASA’s core affiliate, the North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association, also recently endorsed the plan through a unanimous board vote. In discussing NCASA’s need to get behind the plan as well, Dr. Stephen Fisher, NCASA’s Board President and Superintendent of Cleveland County Schools, emphasized the importance of unity around common goals for North Carolina’s public schools.
“It’s so important for all of us to be on the same page pushing together,” Fisher told the NCASA Board. “We need to unite because the work we are doing for students is so important.”
To promote the plan, Superintendent Green is embarking on a tour in collaboration with the State Board of Education to all eight regions of North Carolina this September and October, with a virtual option in November. In each region, Superintendent Green will share more about the strategic plan with community stakeholders at evening public forums. All families, students, educators, school and district staff, public officials, and other community members are invited to attend.
